4 Signs You Need to Quit Your Day Job

The comfort zone. It’s a terrible little monster isn’t it? We get cozy in our routines; our 9-5 unadventurous days. After a while, however, it can make you go crazy. We make excuses all the time for why we can’t step out of our comfort zones, but the truth is, it’s just fear and the desire to stay comfy. But comfy people don’t grow, and comfy people don’t make an impact on the world. So if you’re finding that you’re getting too comfy in your current job, here are 4 signs that it’s time to take a leap of faith.

You have a new idea or project that you’d like to pursue.

You know that side project you’ve been working on in your spare time? Maybe you’ve been giving guitar lessons or glass blowing. If you absolutely love your side project to the point where it doesn’t even feel like work, it’s time to consider pursuing it full time. With passion and hard work, you won’t have to fear that you won’t make enough money or that you’ll fail. If you truly love it, you’ll find a way to make it happen.

You hate your job or the people you work with.

There’s nothing worse than having a boss or coworkers you can’t get along with. Don’t do work that you don’t love. Surround yourself with people who build you up and make you a better person. Yes, we all need a steady income, but you weren’t meant to just pay bills and retire. You were made to make an impact in this world, and you can’t do that if you don’t love your job.

You daydream at work.

If you daydream about diving into your projects, it’s time for a change of scenery. Vacations can be a great temporary fix, but wouldn’t you rather create a life you didn’t need a vacation from? If you want a change, be the change! Thank you, Gandhi.

You feel like you’re no longer growing in your current position.

When we have been at the same job for a long time without a promotion, increased responsibility, or new challenges, it can be easy to plateau. Your job should push you to learn new skills and think outside the box. Staying comfortable doesn’t help you in the long term. Embrace being uncomfortable, because that’s where the magic happens.
